This comes after a [performance in his backyard](https://newsroom.theduality.co/music/jimmy-shazam-at-home-concert), a [brand new freestyle](https://newsroom.theduality.co/music/jimmy-the-great-jimbolini-freestyle), a music video for [DIFFREN'](https://newsroom.theduality.co/music/jimmy-diffren-video), three singles [BEIN' MYSELF](https://newsroom.theduality.co/music/jimmy-bein-myself), [FIGURE IT OUT](https://newsroom.theduality.co/music/jimmy-figure-it-out)& [JUNEBUG](https://newsroom.theduality.co/music/jimmy-junebug) and the start of a theatric rollout where it [began with the artist quitting to become a magician](https://newsroom.theduality.co/news/jimmy-has-quit-music). Check out the new documentary directed & edited by JIMMY below. > [View this post on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/C3A9dtJJwOf/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading) > > [A post shared by JIMMY (@jimmythepoindexter)](https://www.instagram.com/p/C3A9dtJJwOf/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading)   Continuing  ["Act II" of the SHAZAM rollout](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C02IoHjy-31/), JIMMY has shared a new 16-minute long documentary. Inspired by [The Fader's documentary series](https://www.thefader.com/tag/fader-documentaries), Poindexter appears in an interview throughout the documentary as he talks about his past. "This is just me, this is who I am and this is who I would like to be going forward," JIMMY says in the first scene. The artist walks us through the two decade long journey that led to him becoming a bubbling figure in music, starting with his parents who's lives have heavily influenced his own decisions. His family history & their roots to street/gang culture led to him becoming the complete opposite from them. Between becoming an athlete, earning a full-ride scholarship to college & pursuing a career in the music industry, JIMMY continues to march to beat of his own drums with his latest LP *SHAZAM*. In addition to the documentary, a new cover story review of the album can be found below.   ## [![mag cover 2-1](https://newsroom.theduality.co/hs-fs/hubfs/mag%20cover%202-1.jpg?width=700&height=875&name=mag%20cover%202-1.jpg)](https://newsroom.theduality.co/reviews/jimmy-shazam-review) ## ![STARS](https://newsroom.theduality.co/hs-fs/hubfs/STARS.jpg?width=100&height=23&name=STARS.jpg) ## Read our review of SHAZAM in the latest cover story.
