JIMMY Has Quit Music
Jimmy Poindexter is done with the rat race that is "the music industry."
The news comes after a recent "break down" on his Instagram livestream for subscribers only this week. Today, JIMMY made posts on both Zulak and X (formerly Twitter) that "the show is over" and that he's "already begun to shift his attention to another passion."
done with music.

to the people in the live the other day, i'm sorry you had to see me that way.
really tried to bring myself to making new stuff, but I've been done for a minute. it's only made me more depressed. been finding joy in a new passion.
the show is over. good bye.
Poindexter has been very vocal about his strong disdain for the current structure of the entertainment industry in the last few years and the disdain has only became more prominent in his creative output. With lyrics describing how it's only become a detriment to his mental health and how futile it is to operate within, the artist has finally found himself at his breaking point. Unfortunately, the breaking point was reached right after a stellar year of what can be considered successful releases and growing numbers. With platforms like Spotify beginning to squeeze royalty payments for lesser-known artists and TikTok suffocating the reach of an artist's influence, becoming a successful independent artist remains an intricate (and mostly impossible) mission.
The artist shows no signs of explaining or sharing any more information on this sudden exit than he's given, however it seems he has already made up his mind on what his next chapter will be. All of his music and videos will remain on platforms. Any hope for future releases seem stark. It was a great run for the artist, however it's time to focus on what makes him happy.
Before this exit, JIMMY shared that he was working on another new album to be released with a full rollout before the end of 2024. He was also documenting the process in real-time for viewing on his own self-made platform Zulak.
We can only see what happens next. Good luck to the former artist. What do you think of the news? Sound off in the comments below.
